SEPTEMBER 24, 2012 PROLOTHERAPY

"If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.
--Toni Morrison

In way I am writng my own book through this blog. It is me. It discusses personal issues which I feel are important not only myself, but a good reflection on how you heal yourself. I am due to write another book--I just do not know what.  There are so many topics that flood  through my mind, but I haven't decided on one yet . With prayer and meditation I wil find the answer

Do you know what prolotherapy is ?  Prolotherapy addresses connective tissue weakness or instability. This is alternative to orthopedic steroid injections. The use of lidcaine, calcium gluconate or sometimes glucose, injections are administered by a pain mangement physician. It is way to strengthen the ligaments and tendons. The substances injected cause inflammation of the area. These substances are calcium gluconate, or glucose, with and without lidocaine.  Inflammation heals inflammation. Prolotherapy is useful for all areas of the body - knees, albows, cervical neck, and especially back. I have used prolotherapy for herniated discs on my lower back.
Before I recommend prolotherapy to our own pain management physican, Dr Alfredo Castillo or to other Centers as the Ostrow Pain Management Center with Dr Ostrow or Dr Juehl,  I need to make sure the patient has an adequate diet, no malabsorbtion issues, and possible undetected celiac disease and  non celiac gluten sensitivity. If these patients especially, I must correct their villi which were once a shag (villi) rug.The shag rug villi allows the patient to absorb, make Vitamin D and to make serotonin. Most pateints have some mabasorbtion issues whether due to food alllergies/sensitivites, underlying parasites, or even metal toxicity( acute if in the blood) or chronic which  represents a 6 hour collection ( a relfection of the  tissue)
Why is defciiency so important ?Many of these micronutrient that would deficient in celiac or non celiac gluten insensitivity and intolerance ) would be zinc, copper, manganese, protein and Vitamin C. These micronutruients are so important for making and maintaining of collagen.
We do know that any protein deficiency is always known to delay wound healing. A protein defciency has been known to hasten healing It is so impoortant to make sure you have more than the daily recommended allowance for protein,.  The RDA is 0.8 grams/kg of body weight. In order individuals it should be a larger amount. For someoen who weigh about 70ks (154 lbs) to meet the RDA requiremnents ypu would have comsune 1 egg, 5 ounces of wualoity tuna,3 ounces of meat or pultry. One egg is7 grams of  protein, the 5 ounces of good tuna equals 28 graims of protein and 3 ounces of meat or poultry is 21 grams of protein
This needs to be higher for the older patient who needs to heal. For older patients this is where I use protein shakes with low glycemic index, high protein and usually if not always either Brown Rice, Pea Protein, or Hemp protein. The one thing about a protein drinks the amount of zinc. The amount in a protein shake is usually inadequate so many need to talke extra zinc, espceically men

The regular trace elemnts over the counter are not always adequate. I usually recommend 20- 30 grams of zinc,, 5mg of manganese and at least and 1 gram of copper prior to prolotherapy.

Find  the best prolotherapy  therapist in your area. It does make a difference.

Until tomorrow...
