JUNE 10, 2011 FOR YOUR SORE MUSCLES

"The real beauty in life is that beauty can sometimes occur." --Colum McCann

Yes sometimes beauty can occur. When it does it will knock you off your chair. Have you seen real beauty? We all have seen beauty in people like actors, spiritual leaders, etc. Have you seen the beauty of nature? The beauty of the passion flower? ...of a honeybee collecting nectar from hollyhock, yarrow, or flax? ...of a child smiling at his parents? ...of your dog running to the door to greet you? The beauty of the Black Mountains from high above is breathtaking. This is true life beauty. Have no expectations. Beauty is all around you. You have to open your eyes and see the beauty. Do not take it for granted.

My muscles are sore, my body just ached... I needed the Dancer's Bath. I had to find Leda Meredith's book, Botany, Ballet and Dinner from Scratch, to get the recipe. At first I didn't recall if is was Leda's book or Herbal Recipes from Rosemary Gladstar.

How to prepare the Dancer's Bath:

1. 4 parts dried Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)

2. 2 parts dried Comfrey leaf (Symphytum officinale)

3. 2 parts dried Chamomille flowers (can use German or Italian-Matricaria retucita or Athemis nobilis)

4. 1 part dried Rosemary (Rosmarnus officinalis)

5. 1 part of dried Ginger root (Zingiber officinale)

Now mix the herbs together in a small bowl. Put this mixture of dried herbs in a cheesecloth bag. Close it lightly. Do not squish together as the ginger may make you sneeze. Notice that 3 of the 5 herbs have officinale or officinalis in their Latin names. This is the Latin term for medicinal use.

Bring a 1 quart of water to a boil. Pour over this herb sachet bag in another pot. Cover that pot and steep for 30 minutes.

Your bath is almost ready. Fill the bath tub with warm/hot water. Pour the infusion and the herb sachet bag into the bath. Squeeze the bag in the water. Soak for 15 minutes. Rub the herbal sachet bag over the muscles that really hurt

These are circulatory herbs so be prepared to sweat after you get out of the tub . You will feel invigorated and the muscles will not hurt as much.

Until tomorrow...
